bicycle trails

NCR trail from Hunt Valley to the PA state line. Suggested by Rob Carlson.

The Baltimore site is a bit limited http://www.baltobikeclub.org/ but has some hints. The Washington site covers some of Maryland, and if you want to do a tourist thing around Washington it is very good: http://www.waba.org/. Click on 'I am looking for places to ride'. Suggested by Stanley Moore.

The Avalon area in Patapsco park (just west of I95 crosses over) has an excellent mix of trails ranging from flat, paved trails along the river to some serious mountain biking trails on the south side of the river. There are also some excellent beginner-intermediate trails on the north side of the river. Just park in the park-n-ride at the west end of I195 and you can bike right down to the river for access to the entire trail system. Suggested by Peter Johansson.

Some suggestions by David Dudich:

The B and A trail, paved 13 miles from Glen Burnie to Annapolis.

Number nine trail, 2 miles in Ellicott City.

Avalon trails in the Patapsco State Park mainly along River Road. About 5 miles of dirt and pavement, and nice view of Bloede Dam, the first hydro electric dam in the United States.

The Lower Susquehanna Heritage Trail about 50 miles.. up at the Conawingo Dam, where Route 1 crosses the river.

Capital Cresent Trail, 11 miles paved from Silver Spring to Georgetown.
