Letter to my Senators, September 30, 2002

Today I read an article titled "Activists' names on no-fly blacklist" by Alan Gathright of the San Francisco Chronicle from September 27, 2002. Gathright states that he could find no agency that was willing to take credit for or accountability to the names on the no-fly list, or provide activists who find themselves on it to clear their reputation.

That article can be found at this URL.

This appears to be an anonymous and decentralized blacklist with no overseeing authority, assembled by Federal intelligence and law enforcement and used with blind faith by the airline industry and local law enforcement. I don't believe such a system has any place in the United States. Please do what you can to find out who is in charge of this list and require them to provide a method for United States citizens who are erroneously added to be aware of and contest their inclusion.

Thank you.
