September 21, 2002 Decompression party and fundraiser at Peter and Kathleen's place starting at 12:00.
There's another good article today about S. 2633, the RAVE Act by S.M. Oliva in Capitalism Magazine called Intellectual Activism: Stop the RAVE Act. There are a lot of people who don't believe that the RAVE Act will affect them or the activities they enjoy. Think again, read up on it, and please write your congresscritter!
I am the biggest geek in the world. This morning I was sitting downstairs in the basement on my wireless laptop when I felt the need to listen to some music. Since the stereo is up in the living room, I logged into the web server of my Turtle Beach AudioTron over the wireless connection and started an audio track from the hard drive of my workstation on the second floor, which just happened to be an MP3 version of a college radio program on WMSE in Milwaukee that I had downloaded for BobbyG by having my Debian server write to a shared directory with smbmount earlier that week. So Suz is sitting upstairs when her favorite radio station comes on, playing her favorite late-night DJs that she never got to listen to back home, and I never leave my seat.
But it doesn't end there!
On the way to Peter and Kathleen's Decompression Party today, we stopped at Staples on Route 40 to get some Roaring Spring Quad Ruled 5 to 1 inch Composition Books when I found a Portable Innovation Technology MemPlug Compact Flash Adapter on clearance for $10. Now, knowing how unruly the prices for Handspring accessories can be, I had a feeling that this would be a good deal, and I'd been looking to get some more memory for my Handspring Deluxe for a while.
It turns out to be a $50 adapter, and a few hours later, I'm happily backing up all my data and copying pictures to my Lexar Media 128 MB CompactFlash card plugged into the back of my handheld like a good geek should. I would never sync regularly, but now that I can do regular backups onto what I consider to be more "stable" media, I feel like I can use my Handspring for more important data like my checkbook and all my serious design notes.
